Prevention is better than cure...
If you are currently at a healthy weight, it's important that you stay there! To stay at a healthy weight, it's worth doing a little planning now to avoid any weight gain.
You may already be overweight, yet not ready to lose weight. But preventing any further weight gain is still a worthy goal.

As you age, your body composition starts to shift.  Muscle mass decreases & the proportion of bodyfat increases. This shift slows your metabolism, making it easier to gain weight. In addition, some people become less physically active as they get older, increasing the risk of weight gain.

The good news...

The good news is that weight gain can be prevented by choosing a healthy lifestyle that includes good eating habits & daily physical activity.  Avoiding excess weight gain helps reduce the risk of developing many chronic diseases, such as Heart Disease, Stroke, Type 2 Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Osteoarthritis, & some types of cancer.

Life has changed dramatically over the last 30 years - we are now a lot less active than our predecssors.  We now heavily rely on convenience foods, with our lifestyles centering around providing food as a common indulgence, rather than as a necessary means of survival.  Being active & eating a healthy diet are the key to maintaining good health in the 20th century.

Why is Physical Activity so important...?
Physical activity is essential in reducing your risk of Heart Disease & Premature Death. Physical activity combats most contributing factors of heart disease such as Obesity, High Blood Pressure, Stress, Diabetes & High Blood Cholesterol.  Regular exercise increases your Cardiovascular health & strengthens the muscles of the heart.  It increases your blood circulation, oxygen delivery to different organs & tissues of the body & lung function. Exercise results in the release of endorphins in the brain, reducing stress, depression & anxiety.
Why is good nutrition so important...?

Food & the nutrients obtained from food are vital to keep the body healthy & alive. Nutrients are required in order to build & repair cells & body tissues, maintain the organs & bones in optimum working condition & to provide energy, fuel & warmth.
Good nutrition is essential for good health & eating nutritious food can help to prevent against common ailments, as well as more life threatening illnesses & diseases.

Medical scientists now believe that a third of all cancers & most cases of heart disease are related to poor diet.

Don't forget your children!
Childhood obesity levels are alarmingly high & increasing daily.  Many children are diagnosed as clinically obese & with Type 2 Diabetes, conditions that were once prevalent only amongst adults.  Children with these conditions are unhealthy & at risk for developing future cardiovascular diseases.  Parents can prevent or combat these conditions by teaching their kids the importance of good nutrition & exercise.  Join the fight to ensure your child maintains a healthy lifestyle right through to adulthood.
Get your kids active...
With around one in three children now classed as being overweight or obese by the time they reach age 11, it’s more important than ever to get children active.  Physical activity in childhood has a number of benefits including healthy growth & development. It helps children maintain a healthy weight & gives them an opportunity to interact with other people & make friends.  Activities that put stress on children’s bones, such as jumping & skipping, can help protect against osteoporosis in later life & will help develop strong, healthy bones.  Physical activity can increase self-esteem, reduce stress, anxiety & depression in adolescents.
Teach them how to eat well & live long...

A balanced diet helps to fuel your child's growing body & gives your child the energy they need for the day.  Kids need specific vitamins & minerals to help their bodies & mind

s develop & mature. Introducing good nutrition into the lives of your children will help them create healthy habits for life.  Learning correct portion sizes at a young age & eating a healthy, balanced diet will help prevent your kids from being overweight as they get older.  Offering nutritious foods & preparing balanced meals will help to keep your children interested in healthy, nutritious food for a lifetime.

Feed your children a healthy nutritious diet & get them active NOW to see them into the future...
